There seems to be no way to determine the best materials to build a product out of unless ample research is done to determine which materials meet the requirements of cost, longevity and quality. In order to keep your costs down you need to build your product out of the most inexpensive materials possible, yet not compromise quality, durability or safety. In order to meet the longevity goals for your product you need to build with materials that will last that long and then some.
