Furnace Brazing for Stainless Steel: An Overview

Unlike some metals, stainless steel is brazed in a furnace that maintains a pure atmosphere. In brazing, the term pure atmosphere typically refers to an oxygen-free atmosphere, as oxygen can cause certain metals - particularly those that have a high chromium content - to oxidize during brazing. Like a pure atmosphere, a controlled atmosphere can also be oxygen-free.
