NFPA 110 Generator Testing: Frequently Asked Questions

The National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA) sets minimum standards for fire safety in commercial buildings. Some standards, such as those contained in NFPA 110, are made mandatory by federal, state, or municipal laws. If your facility requires a Level 1 or Level 2 generator (a.k.a. genset), these standards lawfully address the emergency power supply system (EPSS) that contains the generator. In particular, they address the construction, installation, maintenance, and testing of the system.
