Construction Laser Scanning: An Overview
In years past, evaluating building sights and performing construction relied on technologies that were time consuming and yielded less than precise data. Today, however, construction companies can use laser scanners to gather the precise data of construction site terrain, environments surrounding sites, and construction in progress. Commercially introduced in the late 1990's, 3D laser scanning-also referred to as laser surveying-was soon adopted by the building industry and the engineering industry due to its ability to yield precise data in a shorter period of time, benefits that ultimately reduce the cost of surveying.
