Industrial buildings built in the 1960's, 1970's and early 1980's in the UK are very likely to have some form of asbestos cement product used in their construction. The most common use of asbestos cement (before it was banned) was in industrial roofing. In fact, it was also frequently used for residential roofing, particularly garage roofs. In industrial buildings large asbestos cement sheets are usually fixed to a steel frame.
